Moving a folder

A folder or sub-folder can be moved into another folder or sub-folder or to any level below it. When you move a folder or sub-folder to a new location, all its contents also move to that location.

Let us now move the Temp 1 folder into the temp folder. Both these folders are present in the Local Disk. Let us undertake the desired moving operation through the following steps:

Size: 48.8 KB

1. Start with the Explorer window of the Local Disk . In the Contents box of this window, you will see the temp and Temp1 folders.

2. Now, click the left mouse button on the Temp1 folder to highlight it.

3. Now pressthe left mouse-button, and keeping It pressed. drag the Templ folder over the temp folder (also present in Contents box). As you move the Templ sub-folder, its shadow moves along with the mouse¬pointer.

4. When the temp folder gets highlighted, re/easethe mouse¬button. Immediately, the Templ sub-folder disappears from the Contents box as it has moved into the temp folder.

Verification:

Let us now verify whether the TempI folder has actually moved into the temp folder. For this, undertake the following steps:

1. Move the mouse-pointer over the temp folder, in the Contents box of drive c.

2. Double click the left mouse-button. The temp folder opens up displaying its contents in the Contents box. Inside the Contents box, you will notice the Ter,lp 1 folder. This means that the Temp1 folder has been successfully moved to the temp folder.

3. The file-folder structure in the previous workout showed that the Temp1 folder contained the Sachin file. Now to see whether this file has also moved to the new location, move the mouse-pointer over the Temp1 sub-folder displayed inside the Contents box and double click the left mouse-button. You will notice that the Sachin file is displayed inside the Temp1 sub-folder.

Make the Vinni sub-folder a main folder in the Local Disk. Also make the file-folder structure.

• Begin with the Explorer window of the Local Disk C.

• Look for the W1 folder in the Contents box of the Local Disk.

• After locating it, double-click the left mouse-button on it.

• Move the mouse-pointer over the Vinni sub-folder in the W1 folder Contents box.

• Click the left mouse-button on the Vinni sub-folder to highlight it.

• Keeping the left mouse-button pressed, drag the Vinni sub folder into the Folders box.

• Then move it over the Local Disk.

• When the Local Disk gets highlighted, release the left mouse-button. The Vinni sub-folder now becomes the Vinni folder.

• To verify the new location of the Vinni folder, move the mouse-pointer over the plus sign (beside the Local Disk in the Folders box and click the left mouse-button over it.

• Use the down-arrow scroll button of the Contents box of the Local Disk to look for the Vinni folder.

• Once the Vinni folder is located, double-click over it. The Contents box will then display the Vinni folder's content, tne Shalini file.
