My modem does not appear in Windows Device Manager?
1. If you have an ISA plug and play (PnP) modem, make sure it is configured for PnP mode. not legacy mode. (Refer to your modem manual for more instructions.)
2. Then go into the BIOS setup and make sure serial port 2 or COM2 is disabled. If you're using Windows 9x. make sure the PnP option in the BIOS is set to enabled or yes. Set it to no or disabled if you're using Windows NT instead.
3. For Windows 9x, start the system in normal mode and 9x should auto-detect the modem and ask you for the drivers. Click here for a list of PREMIO ISA PnP modems.
4. If 9x does not detect the modem, go into Device Manager (right click on My Computer / Properties / Device Manager tab). Look under Other Devices or Unsupported Devices and see if a modem is listed in there; if it is remove it and restart 9x.
