Router forwards data packets between networks. To forward data on best identified path, router use headers and forwarding tables and ICMP protocol. While forwarding data packets, routers do very little data filtering. Routers maintain their own tables which consist of network addresses. The destination of incoming data is determined by routing table which contains a list of network addresses and logical instructions for connecting to other network.
