If you don't want to download the large installation file or install extra software into Microsoft Office to read Openoffice documents, you can open them in Mozilla Firefox and read them with the ODFReader plug-in. Download this from Firefox will need restarting to finish the installation. Once installed, you can read these documents by left-clicking on the File menu and selecting Open File. Use the Open window that appears to find the ODF file, left-click on it, then click on the Open button. This is a viewer, so you can't edit the files.
