Thread: Organise Google Mail

I have been using GoogleMail for a couple of years and, while searching for emails is very good, I would like to move emails from the inbox to make it more manageable. I can add labels to emails but there does not appear to be any way of moving them into folders.

GoogleMail does not have any folders; instead it relies on labels as you have discovered. The advantage of labels is that an email can have several labels applied to it, whereas an email can only be in one folder.

There is a solution if you want to keep the inbox as clear as possible. Clicking on the Archive button will remove the email from the inbox without deleting it. The email will be included in searches should you require it later on. It is possible to archive several emails at the same time. Click in the small box next to the star option to select an email. Repeat for as many emails as required and then click on the Archive button. fan email is archived by mistake, find it with the search function and then click in the More actions option in the top menu. Select 'Move to Inbox'.
