The LAS is an improved feature in the Windows 2003 where in the Internet Verification Service which takes over from the RADIUS which was introduced in the Windows in the year 2000. This feature not only helps you in performing the centralized account management, but also for the authority and verifying for many types of networks, which also includes wireless network too. IAS also uses the verification protocol for their PPP to the confirm users only. The IAS also includes the CHAP (Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol) and the Microsoft version of MS-CHAP. EAP (Extensible Authentication Protocol) this is another method of verification which is also used for smart cards, certificates and one-time passwords.
