If you have ever received an automatic reply when you send a mail to someone, what you have interacted with is the autoresponder. An auto responder is an e-mail message that is triggered to be send to anyone who sends a mail to the given e-mail address. This feature is particularly useful when you want to set out-of-office replies to be sent to anyone who sends you an email when you are expected to be away from your office for a length of time.
