Now that you've created your secret key, send it to the recipient of your mail. Of course, he is also expected to use some kind of encryption software at
his end. On receiving your key, he will store it in his "key ring" and use it to decode your mail later. This process is explained in Step 6. But here's how to send it to a colleague.
1. Open the WinPT key administration
panel by double-clicking on the key symbol in the system tray. You will see your own key there and also other keys that you may have received from others.
2. You can also change the password for your own key by double-clicking
on it and making the changes in the "Properties" window. This will protect the key.
3. To send your key to selected people, select the respective key !created earlier] in the Key Manager [WinPT). Then choose the "Key I Export" command. Save the file [an ASC file)
in a known folder. Caution: Never click on "Export secret key".
4. Then e-mail the key as an attachment to the intended recipient before sending the encrypted message to him.
5. There is one more important
thing to do. Call the recipient and
give him the passphrase for the
key. He will need to use this when decrypting the message (as explained in Step 6l.
