Design-wise Quillpad is the slickest. but Paahijen and Lipikaar offer superior functionality.

For sending mails, Paahijen's 'Scratch pad' will come in handy, as it supports 10 languages and has a quick preview pane to correct your mistakes. If still hav¬ing trouble forming words, then the extensive help section will come to your aid. And when you are done, simply press the 'Refresh' but¬ton which will display the text in your language and then you can copy it anywhere. To send an SMS in your language, you have to register for the free service. Paahijen also has a small classified section called TagWise but there isn't much activity happening there.

Lipikaar also has a free add-on tool for Firefox and can be downloaded on to your desktop for easy access. But I found it a bit tedious to incorporate the fonts on my system.
