The Internet Protocol is the way information is sent via 1 PC to another using Internet. Any information that is sent on the web is separated into packets. The Internet Protocol divides and delivers the packets, and the Transmission Control Protocol arranges the packets while reaching their destination.

IP Address

Every PC that connects to the web has minimum 1 unique address that says the IP where the PC is situated.

Packets

Every packet of information sent by the IP has the sender's as well as the receiver's IP address. This enables every packet to be sent by a various route to the receiver.

Versions

There are 2 types of the IP that is IPv4 and IPv6.

IPv4

IPv4 is the commonly used version of the IP. This type uses a 32-bit addressing scheme having 4 8-bit numbers divided by periods.

IPv6

IPv6 is a latest version of the IP. This uses a 128-bit addressing scheme in place of the 32-bit addressing system. It also has in-built security function.
