There is a possibility that the "Iocalstore.rdf" file in the profile folder which stores your customization settings in XML format is not being recognized. An update could be the possible culprit.

First close the browser and navigate to the profile folder using Windows Explorer. Type "%app data%" in "Start I Run ... " dialog box and press enter. Go to the" Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles" folder and then to the desired profile in it. Create a backup copy of the "Iocalstore.rdf" file and delete the original file, so that Firefox can create and associate with a new one.
