Default IS "Net gateway" - NOT A TYPO! Known as Microsoft fault?

I can connect to a wireless router, and I do not share my connection with anybody else. I have Verizon FiOS fiber net service. After working a install of their own, I observed an icon that looks in my machine tray that said "Internet Gateway" if you hovered above it. Sometimes, it would view "connected", but most of the time it would view "off" . Lately it has been looking a lot, and looks as "connected." My concert has also been affliction, so I finded to appear further intimately at this "Internet Gateway."

Hello similar quarry from me. I would not place it precedent Microsoft to enable a spelling fault and slip via the production , but also makes me suspect that somebody had make a piece of malware that resembled net gateway, but the bad things and refused to be disabled.

Are you in no doubt that this icon is an authentic Windows icon? It looks to me that it is most likely part of the FIOS/Gateway/Router install programs and has not anything to do via the running System per-se. since according to my knowledge I ever listen about any type of trouble like this. So I don’t guess it’s an matter of Microsoft. But still is you have a doubt then make an net search.

Thanks for reply. Since I posted, I restarted the machine in Safe Mode and was able to disable the annoying so gateway via MSCONFIG. Earlier that, I had to sprint the Windows Live OneCare Safety, and detect non that ID'ed as malware. Should have thought of taking screenshots earlier I just 86’Ed the thing.

I tried to shortly initiate Windows Firewall, which asks if I would like to start / ICS service. “Really, I require to block the ICS service, but I went ahead and click "Yes" anyway. Still, did not change the Advanced tab in properties , where it looks that I have to view a see box with respect to ICS. So I was not capable to convert from ICS.
