The process of creating copies of your DVD movies is called "ripping", and is of questionable legality due to concerns about piracy. Ripping DVDs is a two-step process. First, use the program DVD Decrypter to dump an uncompressed copy of the disc to your hard drive, selecting the chapters, subtitles and language tracks you want. Then, use AutoGK to compress this into a small, high-quality DivX file. You'll need to follow the instructions on the website and experiment a little bit with the quality/compression settings to find the right balance. The compression process will take a few hours.
