I HAVE A confession to make While blogs remain my primary interest on the Internet; I have been guilty of a slight dalliance with podcasts foreign language pod casts in particular. That and an addictive video podcast about a house of demented puppet pets. I got a taste of the former with 'A Spoonful of Russian'. Natalia, a Russian living in New Orleans runs the podcast and also teaches the language off her blog. Though temporarily on hold, previous lessons are still available on her site. So the search continued . One blog that was truly impressive in its scope was Set up in 1998 by Simon Ager, it is a guide to various writing systems and languages. The range covered here is truly mind-boggling. From Japanese Kanji and Devanagari to Bengali and Canadian Aboriginal Syllabics it's all here. It is also a good resource for language learning sites. The presentation is dry but it's sheer scope makes it a winner.

Monica Corrias' has a lot of material and is great fun to browse. From Italian songs and recipes, to lessons that give the learner a true sense of the language and the culture, this site has enough to keep you interested for the long haul. She also interacts with people through posts and guides them through the learning process.
The blog, is a labor of love for South African Tyler Duncan who decided to learn the language when he fell in love with his German classmate Lisa. They teach colloquial and contemporary German which is different from the textbook versions usually taught. Last but not least is. It is maintained by a Hungarian girl who dreams of being a polyglot and is studying Chinese, Czech, French, German, Japanese, Russian, Slovak and Spanish. The blog has language learning tools, dictionaries, and pod casts. As for me, after several spoonfuls of Russian with Natalia, my knowledge of the language has progressed beyond the first word I ever learned ... Vodka.
