IF you think the locally assembled PC market is dead, then think again. According to
our survey, assembled PCs still command the highest user base. Moreover, they will continue to do so, i.e. they're the mostfuture ready "brand" if we were to call them
that. Among the actual branded home PCs, HP-Compaq is moving the fastest, 100% making it the most future ready and the winning brand in Users' Choice this year. It has a comfortable lead over Dell and Lenovo. Being a highly competitive market, there are more players in the list with sufficient votes to make it to the Users' Choice Club. These include HCL, Intex, and Zenith in that order.

Brand persuasion index is usually dominated by an underdog, and home PCs is no exception. Intex is the most persuasive brand with more people likely to purchase it than those who could recall it on top of their mind. Lenovo is a distant second, and the others follow. The brand pull situation is in favor of Lenovo who tops the charts there. It obviously has more users likely to switch into it than switch out. Dell has the second highest brand pull and it also has more users likely to switch in than out. The others that follow need to pull up their socks, because they have more users switching out than switching in-not a healthy situation to be in. Brand loyalties are a concern in this segment. All the players had brand loyalties of less than 35%.
