To network your PC, you need to have a network card installed. If you already have a network card, skip to section 2 of these instructions. If you do not have a network card, you will need to install one. The following figure illustrates a network interface card or network card. If you have a desktop PC, you will need to open up the-case of the PC to install the card.

Let us now undertake the following steps and learn to install network interface card in your Pc.

1. Remove all jewellery from your hands and wrists. Use only
insulated or non-conductive tools.

2. Unplug the PC from the mains and disconnect all cables.

3. Remove the PC cover.

4. Choose an empty PCI slot. see, or check your PC documentation to identify a PCI slot.

5. Unscrew the screw holding the PCI slot's back plate and remove it.

6.Insert the network card into an empty PC'I slot.

7.Make sure the network card is firmly seated in the slot.

You should not be able to see the gold connectors on the card when it is fully in. Note that you may need to push harder than you think to push the card all the way in (but do be careful!)

6. Secure the Network Card with the screw you removed earlier.

7. Replace the PC cover and reconnect all previously connected cables.

8. Connect the network cable to the port on the Network Card .

9. Connect the other end of the cable to the socket in the hub.

10. Turn on the power to your PC.
