Thread: Forwarders are not been permitted

I have recently produced a new Win2K DC for my brand new domain. I also owe a static IP address for my server in form of my Primary DNS. The W/S's have the server which are been scheduled as the Primary as well. Though, I’m unable to access the internet. I have also assigned my external DNS address in the Secondary but still unable to fix it out. I also wish to set up the Forwarder to handle all the requirements but on the Forwarding Tab it will allowed in greyed out and I cannot even try setting it up. What's up with that and how do I again try to re-enable forwarding?

You must delete your “. “root zone, which is below the Forward Lookup Zones in the DNS management tool available. This might stop building your DNS Server think it is a root server and will allow you to make use of Forwarders. There must be any requirements to give it a few seconds after you delete it for the Forwarders to be obtainable.

I have deleted the "." zone as you have suggested, but I also had to run the "configure server" wizard to get it to take hold. If it still gives you fits, try that. Just omit configuring another forward zone.
