Thread: Other users finding difficult to connect to my network!

Hello everybody this problem is a very frustrating problem occurring in my computer.

I have struggled including with my 2 friends over to play some games online but they were unable to get connect anytime. One friend is having a Dell vista laptop; the other one is having a custom build XP desktop.

Following is the list of the whole thing which I have tried to get this to do the work.

-Tried dissimilar cables and hubs
-Also altered the workgroup to be right
-disabled all the firewalls and antivirus in the computer.
-restarted the modem and also restarted the computer many times
-flushed the dns, renewed IP, reseted to the winsock, etc.
-completely deleting the network card from the devices and let it redetect it again.

Now this was the worst part of the problem. My friend with XP can also ping sites like google and cnet, but he just can’t load them in his computer. It is like an awful dial up, and the page loading is also very slow. Yet, my friend with vista can only ping with the router (192.168.1.1). Wherein I can take any of my computers to any friend’s houses, it works there perfectly. Their PC’s do work on the other networks also in other peoples' houses. This has actually made me confused. I have been considering that it is a problem with the computers, but now I think that it may also be the router which may be causing the problem.

Try linking them with one of the machines which is directly attached to the modem without the automatic addressing and also see to it that the issue does not go away. This sounds like the router to me as well.

I will also give a try for it but the next time I can also get a hold on one of their computers too. Any other suggestions?
