Thread: Problem with New Router

For several reason nowadays when I start up my computer and my router box which only has 1 light (internet) that comes on and it blinks when it’s on. The message, cable activity, cable link, and the pc link lights do not come on at all. Now I’m also unable to get onto AOL with my DSL connection or the internet explorer like I used it before. So I now made an attempt to go old school and do the dial up on AOL and for some reason it started working with the dial up, internet explorer which works too when I’m signed on by making use of dial up but I cant locate it out how to fix my router connection for DSL. Please help me?

OK; so make and model of router and modem. Are you aware if your modem is a modem/router combo? Operating system and level of operation. DSL connection, correct?
And from your text, high and mighty new router, not the old router which was used to work. And a network that can also work before the starting of the router. The connection for the router and modem is a wired or wireless connection. Will possibly require more information, but let's start with that.

Try resetting the router to factory default settings. If that doesn't restart than regard it as that it is dead.
