Default Difficulty in right to use Internet

I have just recently bought an Acer one well renovate laptop with a built in internet card. I have also programmed it with my wireless network with the IP address and the WEP code on it. The laptop informs me the signal is excellent and that I am connected to the internet. When I try to get on Internet Explorer or MSN it states me that I’m not connected to the internet. I have also tried by resetting the router on my desktop but that too didn't do anything for this problem. My WEP key which is the 26 character code. The laptop also won’t take the 10 character one. I have also double checked the IP address and the subnet address and they are correct in the computer. What besides this can I do? When I addicted up a cable from my router to my laptop I got on the internet with no problem.

By using a static IP address the only way you can explain that if you are corresponding with the router which is being ping it or by accessing the status/config page.
I may also recommend you to make use of dynamic addressing. Disable the encryption and also the MAC address filtering on the router and then try to connect it again. If successful then you can possibly re-enable the encryption and then reconnect it to the internet. If not successful please show ...

Start, Run, CMD, OK for opening a command prompt:
Type the following command in the command prompt:

    IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and then choose Select All, then hit the Enter key.
Paste the results in a message here.

If essential then use a text file and also a removable media to copy the results to a computer with the internet access.

For transferring the copied you can right click on the memory stick and then select New -> Text Document from it. Rename the new file if you require then double click on it to open it with the Notepad. Paste the output into the text file which you have copied and save it in it. Finally "Right click in the command window and then choose Select All, and hit the Enter key." Those two actions will put the CMD window stuffing onto the clipboard; your succeeding paste will put them into your text file.
