    Default PC sharing problem

I have a computer training centre comprising of five computers all with the following configuration: Intel 945 GV Chipset motherboard, 2.6 GHz Pentium IV processor, 80 GB SATA hard drive, 512 MB DDR2 RAM and other accessories.

I also have a 1 Mb/s BSNL broadband Internet connection. I connect all the PCs by using CATS straight through cable to form the LAN and connect one PC by using a C2110 Nokia-Siemens modem provided by BSNL I get the 1 Mbps of speed and it goes smoothly. But my problem is whenever I want to share the other PCs to use the broadband connection, it does not happen and it displays a message, "The phone line is busy". Another problem is how can I convert a video file from a DVD and make a VCD. Please help.

From your question it seems that you have configured all the computers to use the modem. Remove Share the internet from one computer to the others over a network With a single click the modem drivers and dialers from all the other computers except from the main computer. You would need to share the Internet ac;:cess from the main computer which is connected to the internet via the BSNL modem. Set the other computers to automatically pick up a DHCP IP address for their network cards. Once all these machines are configured, start the Internet on the main computer and the others will automatically get the Internet connection from the main computer. You could also invest in a basic network router to share the connection to all the PCs.

As for your second question, you would need to encode the DVD video into a CD format and then burn it to a Video CD. The video quality will reduce drastically. We would not recommend this procedure unless necessary. If you need to store the video on a CD, then rip the DVD to DivX or MKV format. Try using the software HandBrake for converting the DVD video into another format for use on a computer. The software is free to use.
