For most home businesses, the Internet connection will be the most important link to customers, co-workers and prospective clients. Get a business plan from a reputed ISP, not just the default plan from any neighborhood cable operator. You'll need a Quality of Service commitment; something like 99.99 percent uptime should suffice. Make sure you get good uplink as well as downlink speeds if you're planning to videoconference or use Voice over IP telephony. If it's mission critical, consider a second redundant connection for emergencies.
