When you are setting up network that you want to release and renew your IP address to get a new one from DHCP enabled device. E.g. if you now installed a DSL/Cable router and utilize DHCP from router to obtain an IP Address you want to release IP address from your internet provider to get a new one from router.
To do this follows the process given below:
1. Go to Start.
2. Then click Run.
3. Type winipcfg and tick Ok. A window shows on screen. IP Address field displays current IP address for default network adapter.
4. If PC is holding a present IP address, click Release button to have it allow go of this address.
5. Then tick Renew button to get a new IP address.
