Initially being revealed in 1996, Konqueror is an open source web browser specially formed for the KDE desktop setting - but currently accessible as a stand-alone program on Microsoft Windows, Apple OSX or else some Unix alternative. Much like Explorer/Internet Explorer, Konqueror can also be used as a completely featured file administrator. Extremely customizable through panels along with keyboard shortcuts, Konqueror contain numerous sophisticated browser features for example customizable search keywords, tabs with a speedy, standards compliant engine - which was used in 2002 as a base to produce Apple's open source webkit browser engine which currently powers several browsers for example Apple's Safari as well as Google's Chrome.
