Default how to keep two same brand of networks separate

If a neighborhood has the same brand of wireless network as I do, can we keep our two networks separate, or will we both end up having one big network between the two of us?

    any suggestion?????

You can put a password for connection to your network. A secure network is better for you than an open one.
