    Default info about Remote Access

    Remote access is the capability to remotely access and control a computer system from another place to where the computer system is really placed. This is done through the internet or direct dial up through a landline.

    What Is Remote Access Used For?
    There are different uses for remote access:-

    Supporting users without going their place.
    • Accessing your home system from work or holiday.
    • Access a system on your local network that is in a different part of the building.
    • Access a system on your local network that dont have a monitor.
    • Remote Administrator



    Steps To Setting Up Radmin For Remote Access.
    • Install Radmin on both the remote system and the system you are using to access it.
    • Add port 4899 to the firewall on the remote system.
    • Promote port 4899 to the local IP address of the remote system.
    • Find the external IP address of the remote sytem.


    1. Installing Radmin
    A trial version Remote Administrator or Radmin for short, can be downloaded from radmin.com

    2. Add Port 4899
    If you have a firewall installed or you have Windows XP which has its own firewall, then you will require either open port 4899 or stop the firewall.

    3. Forward Port 4899
    If the remote computer accesses the internet through a router in place of an ADSL/DSL modem, after that you will require to add TCP port 4899 to it. How to do this differ from router to router

    4. Finding the External IP Address
    To connect to the remote system you will require the external IP address. This is differ from its local IP address and is allocated by your ISP. There are 2 types, static and dynamic. A static IP not at all changes and a dynamic IP address changes each time you connect to the internet.

    Using Remote Administrator
    • Open the Remote administrator viewer.
    • Select Connection - New.
    • Enter the external IP address of the remote computer.
    • Enter a memorable name for the connection.
    • Click OK
    • Double click the new connection to connect.

    It's okay... you need a better video card for sure, though (at least an NVIDIA GTS250/9800/8800 or ATI 4850). And honestly, if you're going to use it for gaming, you're better off building it yourself; you'll have control over what goes into it and manufactured computers generally don't let you make alterations to clock speed settings.
