Gigabit networking is related to cables, and is costlier to set up. However, it gives better performance. For home applica¬tions, all that additional bandwidth is unnecessary. However. for larger organisations with the need for massive amounts of bandwidth, it's quite worth the investment. Just remember to upgrade the infrastructure as well, or you won't get the expected speeds.
