Whenever I go to install the driver for my modem, it's automatically installed as a USB, and it won't permit me to upgrade it. I won't be clever to attach to the internet awaiting me get this solved.

Motherboard modem or modem card if it is a card, shut the PC off and eliminate the card, start the computer and then shut it down so you can reinstall the card. This will permit you to see if it is being familiar as new hardware. If it is install the drivers when encouraged.
