    Default Creating a Network

I have a BSNL Dataone Broadband Connection. Presently the ADSL Modem given by BSNL is attached straight to my machine.I have another system at my Home and I required to share the this ADSL Modem with the second machine. Hence, how do i join them entire together such that both the machine can surf the net at the similar time? Secondly, can we make the ADSL modem as an independent modem. That is I can either connect to net utilize the first system or the second system or both at the similar time? What if I join both my systems to a hub and also join the ADSL modem to the HUB will I be capable to permit the Modem utilize either of my system?I hope the abve didnt get you confused.

The hub thing will certainly operate . I think you can also plug in the ADSL modem to single PC , hook on another NIC card on tht PC , and connect the 2 pcs also ( havent tested it , but read abt it someplace for certain) .

Thanks If i hook the ADSL to single computer i will ever have to turn on that machine if I require to surf the net from the second PC. I require to neglect that. Either of the PC's or both of the PC's should be capable to permit the ADSL modem to connect to the net, is what i am thinking of.

Connect ADSL router (BSNL calls it modem, its really a router) to the switch (I dont believe you gets HUBS anymore) and connect the 2 PC to the HUB. You will have to assign the secret IP address in the network card in the similar range as an ADSL router and also give the default gateway as the IP address of the ADSL router. Define the DNS in the desktops and up you go for surfing from both machine.

Well people might call it a HUB but I am utilized to using the right terminology...i.e. the switch, see on the panel of the switch, they dont spelt it as HUB....anyway it doesnt make a unlike.Another choice is to utilize a Surecom Net sharing HUB, its got 6-8 NIC ports and requires a separate serial port modem, so any desktop connected to this twist can initiate the modem to dial and connect to the net and you dont require to purchase a separate switch also.
