he GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a freely distributed program for tasks such as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, or as an image format converter. The GIMP can also be used to create basic animated images in GIF format. It is often used as a free alternative software replacement for Adobe Photoshop.
