Thread: New Software Centre

In this edition we have a special in-depth review of Photoshop CS4, that was demonstrated in Mumbai, at the NCPA auditorium in early November. Photoshop has a new look, innovative features in its interface and core and is sure to get designers drooling.

We have balanced out the Software of the Month with a look at Microsoft Expression Studio. This bundle has five components which include Blend, Design, Media, Encoder and Web. Whether this package can take on Adobe's latest Web design CS4 suite is the question on everybody's lips. McAfee Total Security 2009 came out las~ month, and apart from changes to interface, it has also rolled out a community advisory database for faster response to threats. We take a critical look at its working parts.



Some other applications that we looked at were NovaStor's Backup Professional 10, Ashampoo Core Tuner 1.0, and Mr Site Takeaway website 2. The last js more of a service than a program, when we opened the box package we found a CD, activation code and an instruction manual. The CD only contained Web browser installation files and a digital version of the manual. The entire website building takes place on the Internet.

If you run a machine which has two cores and more, then you will need to get the most out of it with Core Tuner. Taking a backup is never easy, and can get very intimidating for the home user. But NovaStor takes all the scariness out of the process with its easy to use interface and wizard guide.
