Default Use add-ins without a compatibility test

Use add-ins without a compatibility test. Before installing add-ons, Firefox checks whether they are compatible with the latest version. You would prefer to test the add-ons on your own on an updated browser version.

    Default

You can completely turn off the compatibility test. For that, you only need to change an entry in the configuration. Open the settings dialog by entering 'aboutconfig' in the address bar of the browser and pressing [Enter]. Then confirm the security message with a mouse click.

Look for the entry 'extensions. checkCompatibility' in the long list. The quickest way to reach the right place is by typing the name in the 'Filter' field. Subsequently, right click on it and select the 'Switch over' context command, to change the value to 'false'. If the value is not yet available, first right click any place in the list, select the 'New Boolean' context command and enter the string. Set the 'extensions. check Update Security' entry to 'false' in the same way. If it is non-existent, create it as described.

    WARNING

There is a risk of installing incompatible add-ons, which can then lead to problems such as browser crashes. Thus it is advisable to turn on the check again after installing the desired add-on and to prepare a security message or to set a restore point before the test.
