Thread: NOD32 Antivirus

I am writing on behalf of one of my friends. He recently bought a new computer and got NOD32 antivirus as a gift. But he doesn't have an Internet connection and is unable to update the antivirus. I searched the Internet for him, but I couldn't find any downloadable updates for his' antivirus. Is there any way by which I can get them for him? Please help me.

The chances of finding an update NOD32 antivirus using another computer or without an internet connection are low, unless you are using version 2.7 or above. You can download the updates from 12TMR5' and extract the file's contents. Create a directory called 'nod_upd' and copy/extract the files to it. Finally, burn this directory to a CD or DVD. Then click open the NOD32 Control Center on the computer that needs to be updated and choose the update option. Click on the 'Setup' button and choose the CD-ROM drive from the 'Server' dropdown list. Insert the CD/ DVD and click update now.

Your system should have updated. If you;want to update the definitions using a USB drive or just by specifying the files on your hard drive, you would have to tweak the registry a little bit. To do this, open the Registry Editor by typing 'regedit' in the 'Run .. .' dialog box.

Then browse to the key 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ESET\N od\Cu rre ntVe rsi on\ Mod u les\U pda te\Settings\ConfigOO 0\ Settings'. Find the entry 'SelectedServer' and change the default value from 'Autoselect' to 'FILE:C:\Nod_upd/'. Use the same path as the update file location (USB or any other drive). Close the registry editor and update your antivirus in the future.
