Installing Thunderbird is easy; you just need to follow the self-explanatory steps. After the installation is over, Thunderbird will ask to import mails from Outlook or Outlook Express, In our case, we didn't have Outlook installed but had Outlook Express which is listed here, If you are starting afresh, click on "Don't import anything". The good thing is Thunderbird has predefined Google mail settings which is great! Thunderbird 2 offers to import your account settings, address book details and mail automatically, You'll have to patiently wait after the account settings are set up import mail-bigger the mail, more importing time.
If in case Thunderbird cannot find your ISP account details, you'll need to enter them manually here, To know this information, the simplest way is to check existing account settings in Outlook Express or Outlook.
1. In Outlook Express click on 'Tools I Accounts'. In Outlook 2003, click on 'Tools I E-mail Accounts'.
2. In Outlook Express, click on your account and then hit 'Properties', Outlook 2003, choose 'View or change existing e-mail accounts' and now click on your account, and hit 'Change'.
3. Be sure to check all the important information, such as 'Name' and .E-mail Address', 'Server Information' which contains 'Incoming mail server !POP3)' and 'Outgoing mail server !SMTP)'.
