Even without the strong new backup and not-so-strong tune¬up modules, this year's suite beats its predecessor, especially in the antispam and antispyware areas. A completely new user interface makes the product much easier to use.

BitDefender Total Security 2008 includes the essential firewall, antivirus, and antispyware modules, as well as good spam protection and full-featured parental control, and adds backup and tune-up. The product did very well at blocking and removing spyware, and the firewall is much tougher now (but still doesn't block leak tests).
