This has been improved and, on an elderly laptop, Spyware Doctor took a commendable nine minutes to scan 108,000 items in its new Intelli-scan mode. Admittedly, a full scan of 130,000 items on the same machine took rather longer at 41 minutes.

When it detects a problem, it doesn't over-react to inactive threats, accu¬rately reporting the actual risk posed. It removes pretty much 100 percent of malware. Any residual debris will be of no consequence. Although it can take a while to clean a badly infected PC, your patience is well rewarded.
