Thread: How to eliminate Norton from registry

I am having desktop PC with vista OS. I want to eliminate Norton antivirus from my system. I tried other method but none of them worked out for me. Kindly provide me the correct logical solution to resolve the above issue. Any kind of information on the above issue would be permit.

If you unable to browse in the registry then follow this simple method to navigate the registry:

• Go to start ,Run and type regedit

• then click OK

• Following registry will open:

Click on + to HKEY_CURRENT_USER> Software> remove "Symantec"
Click on the + to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software> remove "Symantec"
Click on the + to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE> Software> Microsoft> Windows> CurrentVersion> Uninstall> remove "SymSetup"

• Close the Registry

• reboot the computer to take effect

Sometimes files stay behind, even after using the tool Norton Removal Tool. Then you should manually remove them. Some files are hidden, making them visible to see here:

remove the following files from system manually:

C: \ Program Files \ Symantec \
C: \ Program Files \ Norton \
C: \ Program Files \ Common Files \ Symantec \
C: \ Documents And Settings \ <Username> \ Application Data \ Symantec \
C: \ Documents And Settings \ All Users \ Application Data \ Symantec \
C: \ Documents And Settings \ Administrator \ Application Data \ Symantec \
