Even if Microsoft doesn't want to admit it, Windows XP lives on. The software giant
is committed to stopping sales of its older OS starting July 1. But many users shy away from Vista and prefer the familiar Windows XP. That puts pressure on computer manufacturers to continue offering computers with XP.

HP, Dell and Sony are taking a detour by allowing users who buy Vista Home Premium, Business or Ultimate to downgrade to XP. Users can choose to receive their new computers with XP installed, and a seperate Vista upgrade DVD. Even HP hopes to continue offering Windows XP till the end of June 2009¬twelve months longer than Microsoft itself.
