    Default iTunes does not updates

    Hi......

wanted to make the update to iTunes 9.2.1, so I can load the new iphone firmware 4.0. the update failed with the message: "The older version of Apple software update can not not be removed". I then itunes including all associated components such as QuickTime player, bonjour, apple mobile device support, etc. completely uninstalled, deleted, as are all only searchable registry entries. after a restart, I tried again to install itunes

again without success with the same error message. In addition, newly released also the message that now also the older version of itunes can not be removed. even though it could not install itunes and mainly absolutely nothing on my compi was had, even uninstalled everything!! the temp folder I have also emptied several times completely. I then looked in Event Viewer, released the following messages:

Source MsiInstaller: Product:. ITunes - Error 1714 The older version of iTunes can not be removed Contact your technical support personnel system error: 1610.. "

    and:

Source: MsiInstaller "Unexpected or missing value (name: 'PackageName', value:" ") for key" HKLM \ Software \ Classes \ Installer \ Products \ C8D09B58 3F0748E4DB13E549980C9FBF \ source list ".

Finally, I tried via windows installer clean up an outdated figure out whether there makes entry problems, but could not figure out what would somehow close to it.
probably missing something there really a value in the registry or something, but what, how, where?
would be totally grateful for an idea / solution, because I have no more ...!!

have windows xp pro with sp3.

    Default

    Hello

Problem have now found out after hours, and resolve: remove everything including the registry (either manually or with CCleaner a search function), then - and that was the trick: the two keys under HKLM_Software_Classes_Products of the affected applications (I use iTunes and Apple software Update search) and completely delete (not just individual entries). Also depending on the error message is the key names already in the Windows Event Viewer under application you can (for me it was so).
    Then the installation worked perfectly!
