THE Zotac GeForce 9800 GT has 512MB of DDR3 video memory and runs on a 660 MHz GPU core-with a clock speed of 1800 MHz. It has 112 stream processors and a 256 bit memory interface. The Zotac card fea¬tured a plastic cover over its GPU with a fan and a heat sink embedded in it. The fan runs quite silent and there were no issues with the noise generated. The card also had 2 DVI ports, an S-Video out port but lacked an HDMI port.
In 3D Mark '06, at default settings, the 9800 GT was able to chalk up 12,971 points just a few lesser than ATI's HD4850. However, in 3D Mark Vantage, the 9800 GT scored 6,437 points, about 500 points less than what the HD4850 managed. In our gaming tests, the 9800 GT managed almost 100 FPS in Unreal Tournament 3 at 1440x900 with all other setgain very close to the HD4850. However, while the ATI card was able to consistently maintain a very playable frame-rattings on maximum, which is ae of 35 in Crysis (1280xl024, 4xAA, all other settings on high), the 9800 GT clocked only 28 FPS.
Zotac has packaged the 9800 GT quite well as not only does it come with the requisite extra Molex to PCI-E connector and a DVI to VGA convertor but also the game XIII Century: Death or Glory. The Zotac card is priced and although it falls short of the HD4850 in terms of performance, it is a worthwhile purchase on its own.
