Default NVIDIA 260 or 285 Graphics card

On a system with an E8400 (broken up to 3, 6), DDR-II 2 GB (1066), Monique Samsung 214T (1600х1200), BP Thermaltake 550 W (2x6 pin) want to replace the 8800 GT graphics card on the more powerful. Mainly for gaming type COD4/COD5 and for the expected fall COD6 (COD4: MW-2). In multiplayer COD4 in 1024x768 resolution (all types of graphics improvements AA and AF off) now may be in the COD5 - 1024x768. In principle, the "calm" in the battlefield 8800 GT FPS fluctuate around these values. But "Enhancement" scenes, especially when a lot of smoke and fire players, FPS150. It lags, but all the same ... Decide whether buying NVIDIA 260 of these problems? Is it possible to put a higher resolution and improved graphics while maintaining the maximum FPS? Decide whether these issues NVIDIA 285, or in this case, buying the more expensive cards a waste of money? Unfortunately I have seen most of the published tests do not give an answer to these questions, because they tend to use very high resolution with improved graphics enabled, the system is often based on Corei7, and to the values of 250 FPS falls short.

What is the point to require the calculation of larger number of frames than the monitor displays? If the game feels more FPS, than personnel scan monitor (60Hz now, usually) - it means the performance of your system redundant. After all, despite everything not to display frames just are not - and why you these 250 FPS? Know that the system can be 4 times more than your monitor?

I do not want to go into the jungle on the theory that the FAC, the utility or not synchronized with the frequency. Scan monitor, just try to play COD4 in multiplayer with fps 85 (default). And then expose fps 250 (if the card holds most of these 250), and feel the difference. Playing at fps 250 to return to 85 does not want to. The game engine is designed in such a way that, when strictly defined values fps (125, 250 or 333), and jumping and running better + faster response to rapidly changing environment. When the real value at a given time drops, such as 200 (when exhibited fps 250), you will not be able to jump an obstacle, jump somewhere, etc.
