The GeForce GT 240 GPU will suit those who don't have high budgets for a gaming Pc. This Zotac variant features 512 MB of GDDR5 memory with a 128-bit bus. The GT 240 is manufactured using the 40 nm process and features support for DirectX 10.1. Thanks to this, power consumption is so little that it doesn't have a PCle power connector. The Zotac GT 240 sports a single slot design and has a finned aluminium heat sink fitted with a 55 mm fan. At first it seemed like the heatsink cooled the memory chips under it, but on close observation it wasn't the case. The rear panel has D-sub, DVI and HDMI ports. 3D glasses (red/ cyan anaglyph type) made of thick card paper are included so you can play games and watch movies in 3D anaglyph mode. You have to configure the settings in the Forceware driver. Unfortunately it also strains the eyes and leaves you disoriented after prolonged use!

The GT 240 performs well considering its low power consumption. In Crysis Warhead it churned out 48 fps at 1440x900 in Mainstream mode which is 50 percent faster than the GT 220 with 1 GB DDR3. It also lagged behind the 9600 GT with 512 MB DDR3 memory by a small margin. In Left 4 Dead (4xAA) and Race Driver Grid (2xAA) the average frame rate was around 60 fps at 1440x900. Thus you can rest assured that this card will suffice for gaming with a moderate level of eye candy on a 19-inch LCD monitor.
