The Radeon 5850 is finally here. It comes with twice the number of stream processors compared to the older Radeon 4850. In spite of this, the 5850 is humble at power consumption and runs cool too. Its performance in synthetic benchmarks is nearly double the last generation 4850 and on par with the high end GTX 285.
Even in the real world benchmarks, it gave 80% higher fps in games like Crysis
Warbead, Far Cry 2, etc. ATI has employed aggressive power saving techniques and claims 27 watts consumption on idle which should make the power conscious happy. Although it supports DX11, very few DX11 titles are available making it difficult to gauge its DXll performance.

To sweeten the deal, ASUS has included a complimentary copy of Dirt 2 which is among the few DX11 titles. Once NVIDIA launches their cards and the 5850 is destined to be the hot favourite among the system builders who want performance but on a budget.
