We saw the most powerful iteration of the tenth generation of NVIDIA Ge Force GPUs, GT200 the GTX 280. Today we sethe second board, the Ge Force GTX 260 card on specifications slightly lighter but substantially cheaper.
Earlier this week, NVIDIA officially launched the Ge Force GTX 280 the first graphics card based on the GT200 graphics processor, the second generation unified shaders green company. That same day ad or released without availability of Ge-force GTX 260, a more humble in characteristics based on the same processor, the GT200. This second card will be - according to NVIDIA on sale from next week.
However the great importance of this card lies in how new it is but we are at a slightly remember in specifications of the GTX 280 to only 60% of the price. While the GTX 280 has 240 cores 1GB 512-bit memory and frequencies of 602, 1296 and 1107 MHz graphics processor memory and shader processors respectively the GTX 260 is formed with 192 cores 896MB of memory to 448 -bit and frequencies of 576, 1242 and 999 MHz
Look different but they are not, as in drawing its cooling system we find the same GT200 present in the other card the same 1,400 million transistors covering an area of 576mm2 of silicon specifications in which we dig in our article on the architecture of this new chip. This is simply because NVIDIA is occupying the cores that fail to qualify for their card GTX 280 for 260 and laser cutting capabilities surplus and to avoid changes in software.
On paper we have something far more interesting price / balance that her older sister, but only on their performance on tests to ensure that these products will become the preferred choice among the most demanding enthusiasts.
