The battle amongst ATI and Nvidia has been a retentive and bad one that at single point looked like Nvidia had issued winning just to immediately find the opponent is nearer to the truth. These two hulks have the entire consumer GPU market between them with very different strategies.

Nvidia needs for the high end where allowances are higher but volumes decrease while ATI fused their “bread and butter” mainstream market. At the end of the day, ATI was able to gives a better price/ operational solution while Nvidia was remaining to struggle with deficient product distinction and even had to outcome to marketing hanky panky through renaming existing product offerings.
