HE ZOTAC GTS 250 is the per¬fect example of a dark horse winning the race. We were so caught up in the high-end graphics card wars between NVidia and ATI that this card passed under our radar amongst all the HD4890s and the GTX 295s.

The Zotac GTS 250 is based on the Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 reference design and has a core clock speed of 740MHz and a memory clock speed of 1100MHz. It is manufactured using a 65nm process and has 512MB of Video RAM. Out of the box, the Zotac card is encased in black plastic with heat vents and a fan on front. It also comes packaged with a game XIII 'Century: Death or rates the maximum power required by the card as 150W and that was the highest power requirement in the Top 5. However, the GTS 250's performance is quite enough to justify its power requirements.

We started off our tests with 3D Mark Vantage and the card scored 8278 and 4957 marks in the Performance and High modes respectively. In the games tests, the GTS 250 continued its dominance; in Crysis, it managed a very playable 32 fps at 1920x1080 with Anti-Aliasing turned off and all settings at High. Similarly, in other games like World in Conflict and Far Cry 2, the Zotac clocked the best fps as compared to the other cards.
