The Asus EAH4890 makes use of ATI's reference cooler and is a notch faster than similar Radeon 4890 cards at its default setting. Powering up the card are two six pin PCle power connectors that will require having at least a 550W power supply. Bundled with the card is a DVI to HDMI adapter, DVI to VGA adapter, 5-Video to composite adapter, component video dongle, cross¬fire bridge and a leather mouse pad.

The core and memory are clocked at 850 MHz and 975 MHz respectively. The icing on the cake is the Asus 5martDoctor software that comes bundled with the card. Apart from the usual GPU and memory tweaks the Smart Doctor also allows you to make fine adjustments to the overall voltage. Nevertheless, even without the tweaks Crysis Warhead returned a playable frame rate of 35 fps in gamer mode at 1680x1050 at 2xAA. Race Driver: Grid returned a flawless 85 fps at 1920x1200 with AA set to 8x.

With all that power under the hood one would guess that there wouldn't be any headroom space for overclocking. Well, guess again!! With the 5martDoctor enabled we were able to increase the core speed to a ;sweet 940MHz, while the memory touched 1150MHz. However, to obtain these speeds the voltage had to be bumped up from 1.3V to 1.33V. If you are an ATI fan and have the money to splurge, this is "THE" card to own.
