Default Correct Installation of the power adapter Graphics Card

Your new graphics card needs extra power. The instructions ask for a direct connection to the power supply. However, there is an adapter, which allows branching to other devices.

The PCI Express interface allows cards to draw upto 75 Watts from an x16 slot. some cards are therefore equipped with a 6-pin plug for additional power supply. In this plug, there are 12-Volt wires which may connect to the same 12-Volt bus-if there is nothing else connected there. Strictly speaking, the adapter in the package must not be used to connect the card.

If you wish to obey standards, then you must establish a direct connection between the power supply and the card. In practice the adapter is almost always used. Though not complying with standards, these function perfectly provided that you actually connect two different 12-Volt buses with the adapter and that the power supply can overall supply? sufficient amount of current.

Make sure you plug it in correctly. In some cases, the soft plastic power plug can be inserted the wrong way. You risk the graphics card, motherboard and PSU, so check everything twice.
