I use my computer mainly for photographic use. I have a Dell 15in monitor and wish to upgrade to a larger screen. I cannot decide between a 4:3 and 16:9 wide. Which would be best for photographic use?

There are no discemable differences in quality between widescreen (16:9) and normal monitors (4:3). Given the choice between the two, however, we would choose a widescreen monitor. The extra space to either side can be used for editing toolbars that would require zooming out of a picture to see. Depending on the amount of space available around your computer, it should be possible to continue using the old monitor next to the new one, giving even more space. Nearly all graphics cards sold in the past few years have two outputs.
