How can I connect my computer to a TV or television screen?
If your machine is connect to a television set; you require the proper video output hardware on your machine. This can be composite video, S-video, or on newer models, a DVI port. These connections are normally created on the video card on the back of the machine, though a few multimedia computers have the ports on the front. If your computer does not contain any of these ports, you will not be capable to connect your computer to your TV except you acquire a multimedia video card.
Most TVs have composite input, which is used for video connection, yellow, and white and red connection for the left and right audio signal. Simply connect the three cables from your PC to your TV and you are ready to go. S-Video works just the same, but took the yellow composite cable connection. DVI is a high quality connection, but will only work if your TV has an input DVI. As S-Video, you need to connect the red and white audio cables, but if you want to come to the audio from your TV.
Once you connect your computer to your TV, you can use the display control panel, Windows, to enable output to your TV. You can also "mirror" the computer display on a TV, or you can "extend the desktop" on TV, and 2 different displays. If you use a Macintosh, open System preferences the same option.
